—Bo' Rai Cho to Shujinko in Mortal Kombat: Deception.

Bo' Rai Cho is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series, who made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

About Bo' Rai Cho

Bo' Rai Cho is an obese, somewhat drunken master of martial arts. He enjoys drinking alcoholic beverages and is infamous for his "Puke Puddle" move. His primary fighting style is the Drunken Fist, of which it has been stated that he was the one responsible for that style's invention. Though he's an important part of the series, he did not appear in any games until Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Combat characteristics

Powers and abilities

Despite his obese and drunken appearance, Bo' Rai Cho is an extremely skilled combatant. He very often uses his drunken state to his advantage in battle, especially in some of his special moves. He also uses his obesity as an advantage in battle. Bo' Rai Cho can also manipulate seismic events (such as earthquakes), and control the time of vomiting to be used as a trap in battle. Bo' Rai Cho also has a special ability which can make him ricochet or bounce with his belly. He has shown he is a capable general as well.

Signature Moves

  • Puke Puddle: Bo' Rai Cho vomits on the ground. If his opponent were to step on the puddle, they would slide and allow a free hit or combo for Bo' Rai Cho. In Mortal Kombat X, this move has been renamed to Vomit Spray, and acts as a projectile-type attack rather than a disabling one, knocking the opponent to the ground on hit. (MK:DA, MK:TE, MK:D, MK:U, MK:A, MKX - Drunken Master Variation)
    • The enhanced version is called Puke Spray and has Bo' Rai Cho's vomit travel the entire screen's distance, with increased damage.
    • Bo' Rai Cho may only use Vomit Spray and Puke Spray if he is at Level 3 Drunk.
  • Monkey Flips: Bo' Rai Cho performs two front flips against his opponent. In Mortal Kombat X, it is called Tumble Kicks. (MK:DA, MK:TE, MK:D, MK:U, MK:A, MKX)
    • The enhanced version is called Monkey Flips, Bo' Rai Cho is armored during the attack and a third flip is added at the end.

      • While in the Drunken Master variation, Bo' Rai Cho may perform Drink after the final hit of Bump N' Dump.
  • Earthquake: Bo' Rai Cho stomps on the ground with one of his legs and creates a tremor causing the arena to shake. In Mortal Kombat X, it is called Sumo Stomp. (MK:DA, MK:TE, MK:D, MK:U, MK:A, MKX)
    • The enhanced version is called Sumo Slam and does more damage.
    • While in the Drunken Master variation, Bo' Rai Cho may perform Drink after using either Sumo Stomp or Sumo Slam.

    • The enhanced version is called Crop Duster, the move is executed faster and the fart lingers on the arena, which can be used as a trap, but will dissipate after a few seconds.

  • Ground Fire: Bo' Rai Cho spits burning liquid on the ground, damaging the opponent if they stand on the flames. (MKX - Dragon Breath Variation)
    • The enhanced version is Ground Blaze, Bo' Rai Cho will throw his flask at the ground following the burning liquid, causing a large explosion that launches opponents high up in the air. The explosion is unblockable. The flames generated from the move are also bigger, deal more damage to opponents who stand on it, and last for a longer amount of time.
  • Drink: Bo' Rai Cho takes a sip out of his flask, causing him to become Drunk and giving him access to different moves. Can be levelled up to three times, increasing the strength of his special moves each time. Levelling up Drunk also makes his flask glow brighter, as well as altering his fighting stance, causing Bo' to become more tipsy with each increased level. If Bo' Rai Cho does not continue to drink within ten seconds of his last drink, he will vomit, leaving himself open to an attack. (MKX - Drunken Master Variation)
    • The enhanced version is called Chug and instantly brings Bo' Rai Cho to the third level, it also has him recover from the move faster.

This move replaces Belly Bash in the Bartitsu variation. (MKX - Bartitsu Variation)

  • X-Ray Move - Drunk-Upuncture: Bo' Rai Cho vomits on the floor, which trips the opponent. After he laughs, he grabs them and jumps, dropping the opponent facefirst mid-air, destroying the skull. Bo' Rai Cho lands elbow first on their neck, snapping it in two. Finally, Bo' Rai Cho jumps once more, this time landing on their back, breaking it. This attack is unblockable and the start up can be continued by holding down the triggers, making Bo' Rai Cho vomit for a long time. (MKX)

  • Flaming Fart: Bo' Rai Cho pulls out a torch and lights it on fire. He then turns around and farts into the torch, engulfing his opponent in green colored flames. He concludes the Fatality by saying, "That's a stinky one!", or "That was a wet one!". (MK:D, MK:U)

  • If Bo' Rai Cho performs his Fire Spit secret Brutality on his opponent right as they knock him away, a glitch will occur and he will still walk backwards and pour his drink of respect despite being nowhere near the opponent's body.
    • Additionally, when he pours during this glitch, the flames will still accelerate even though he is nowhere near the body.
