Overview |
Raiden's Temple, or the Temple of Raiden, is an arena and another temple built for the worship of the thunder god Raiden, as well as it was built as his place of meditation. The temple first appeared in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. It is similar to the Sky Temple in Mortal Kombat: Deception.
This arena features a freefall kombat transition from Raiden's Temple to the Rock of Eternity, where Captain Marvel communes with the wizard Shazam. In the game's story mode, a dramatic fight between a curious Raiden and a rage-striken Marvel occurs here.
Appearances in Other Media[]
In the 2021 film Mortal Kombat, the Order of Light is located in Raiden's Temple. Unlike previous versions, which show the temple as a building with a sparring arena for a balcony in the mountains, the Temple in the film is a hidden fortress within a series of underground man-made caves in an undisclosed salt desert. According to Liu Kang, the once-flourishing society had since been forced into hiding after the last 9 losses in the Tournament, as there had been nobody left to defend the Order. As a result, the Order of Light now lives with Raiden at his temple, as they no longer have a temple to call their own. Lord Raiden's temple features a number of murals that depict the history of Mortal Kombat. Lord Raiden defends the temple using an energy barrier, but it becomes the site a major battle between the forces of Earthrealm and Outworld after Kano betrays the Earthrealm forces by downing the barrier.
