Overview |
The Macuahuitl is an Ancient Aztec weapon that is used by Kotal Kahn. The name is derived from the Nahuatl language and means "hand-wood".
In Mortal Kombat[]
In Mortal Kombat X, the macuahuitl is only available in Kotal Kahn's War God Variation, which gives him crushing attacks all based on the use of his macuahuitl. His Osh-Tekk warriors use one during Kung Jin's Chapter in the Story Mode to execute a poor and starving Outworlder, but is saved by Kung Jin before his execution.
In Mortal Kombat 11, it returns as Kotal Kahn's primary weapon and is used regardless of variation. The weapon is also a customizable gear item in the game's Kustomization.
Trivia[]
- The macuahuitl was originally used by the Aztec military forces and several other precolombian Mesoamerican cultures.
- The Macuahuitl's blades were said to be sharp enough to decapitate a human and horse in one swing, making it a very dangerous weapon, at the cost of being very fragile.
