Mortal Kombat novel was released in 1995 to coincide with the release of the Mortal Kombat movie. The non-canon novel was written by Jeff Rovin. The novel was based on the Mortal Kombat characters created by Ed Boon and John Tobias and it spawned a lot of non-canon characters that made their only appearance in the novel.
