I was just thinking about Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and how it relates to time travel in Mortal Kombat 9. I know that I may be over thinking this but I like to believe that I'm critically thinking about this.
In MKvsDCU, when Darkseid and Shao Kahn go through portals at the same time in their respective universes, the two merge and cause the rest of their universes' realities to merge as well. This could be explained via a similar event happens and the final result is a merge, the portals are the exact same portal (either the mirror image or a worm hole), or just some MK logic that says "just because...".
In MK9, during the final battle of Armageddon, Raiden sends himself a message to when it was the beginning of MK1. The result of this is of many changes and screw ups.
In general, the Amulet of Shinnok is very powerful. It even has teleportation powers. Teleportation powers in other forms of media can be in the form of time travel. I know that we have a page for the amulet and what it does but I'm sure we don't know everything that it does.
Taking what happened in MKvsDCU and combine it with Raiden's time travel spell, what if in an attempt to escape from the Netherrealm that the real Shinnok of the Original Timeline uses the amulet to teleport himself out of the Netherrealm but winds up in the past somewhere? This would mean that Shinnok from the Original Timeline could exist in the Current Timeline due to Raiden's "just in time" time travel spell.
Of course, this is just speculation and critical thinking. What does everyone else think?
