New Red Dragon members

  • Regardless of how you feel about them, the loss of Mavado and Hsu Hao was a mighty blow to Daegon. So he's going to need to find some new henchmen. And with the Daegon mentioning Onaga, it stands to reason their going to return to the games in the next instalment. So on this forum, post ideas for new members of the Red Dragon who could become new playable characters. Here are my ideas

    Altivo

    Gender: Male

    Species: Human

Bio: Altivo's mother was killed durring Shao Kahn's invasion, later his father died in the first Neatherrealm war. Altivo soon blamed Raiden for Earthrealm's problems. Without a family, the seven year old Altivo was taken to an orphanege, but he never forgave Raiden. Then later, much to his surprise, he was "adopted" by a very unlikely person, Mavado. Mavado saw potential in Altivo and brought him before Daegon, who allowed Mavado to train Antonio as his apprentice. For the next decade Altivo endured grueling training from Mavado, but eventually became a deadly fighter, weilding a whip. He and Altivo also became good "friends" When his training was nearly complete though, Mavado was summoned to Outworld to aid Mileena's rebellion. When he didn't report back, Altivo went to look for him, only to find out that Cassie killed his mentor. After passing Daegon's final trial, Altivo now has only one desire, to kill Cassie and avenge Mavado.

Appearence: A tall shirtless man wearing black pants, with a fierce looking clean shaven face, with brown hair

Fatalities. 1: He throws the whip onto the opponents throught, yanks it back, decapitating the enemy, grabs the head, throws it down, the hits it with the ship until only a bloody skull is left. Alltivo WIns! FATALITY

2: He trips the enemy who falls onto their face, he then lashes the enemies back until the spinal cord is visiable. The then breaks the cord. Altivo Wins! FATALITY

Personality: Altivo is a loyal Red Dragon and is prideful of his status. He despises thoise who are rich or greedy, expecially the Black Dragon, expecially morso if they try to cheat the Red Dragon. He is very loyal to Daegon, but he does have a softer side when it comes to Mavado.

Fun fact: The word Altivo is the Spanish word for "Arrogant"

    Borte:

    Gender Female

    Species: Human

Bio, Mongolia had always suffered from numerous problems, government corruption, air pollution etc. As dissatifaction grew, some people began discussing open revolt, especially durring the Outworld and Neatherrealm wars, which hit Mongolia hard, yet the Special Forces never lift a finger to help. Borte was from a homeless family who lived on the streets of a small town that could expect no help from anyone. But one day, these went even more to hell. The Red Dragon launched a surprise attack on her "home". And their leader killed and raped her mother. She soon learned her mother's killer and rapist was non other then Hsu Hao himself. Consumed with revenge, the seven year old girl set off to find and kill Hsu Hao.

She followed Hsu Hao and his men for a week until she finally tried to kill him. But Hsu Hao was much stronger then her. At first he wanted to kill the girl, but eventually became impressed by Borte's determination. He offered to train her, so that she could try and kill him when she grew strong enough. Hsu Hao brought Borte before Daegon, who approved of Hsu Hao training the girl. Over next decade, Borte went through Hsu Hao's painful training exercises, and often by the end of the day she had cuts and bruises. But eventually she became a very strong woman. Hsu Hao's training and living with the Red Dragon also changed the way Borte viewed life, and how she viewed Hsu Hao, whom she eventually thought of as a father. When her training was complete, Hsu Hao congradulated her, but almost immediantly after that, the Red Dragon's alarms went off, because Kenshi had been disvoered infiltrating the ranks of the Red Dragon and the rest is history. When Borte discovered her "father" had been killed by Scorpion she swore revenge and now seeks Scorpions death.

Appearence: A rather muscular woman wearing Mongal warrior atire with ebony hair.

Fatalities: 1: She draws ald Ild sword and slashes open the victems chest and spilling the inner organs. She then slices the enemies head in half. Borte Wins! FATALITY!

2: Borte punches the enemy to the ground knocking them out, the enemy wakes up to find their hands and legs are tied to ropes attached to horses. The Horses run foreward, the enemy screams and breaks in half. Borte Wins! FATALITY!

Personality: Borte is strong willed woman, but she has become the very thing she swore to destroy. She despises Scorpion, for killing a man she called "father", but a small part of her also hates Scorpion for denying Borte her revenge. Will Borte eventually break free of the monstrous path she choose to follw when she vowed to kill Hsu Hao, or will Hsu Hao's influence bind her to the Red Dragon forever?

Fun Fact: Borte was the name of Genghis Kahn's first wife.

    • There was this one MK Anthology or MK MUGEN (or whatever you want to call it) character named Micro. When I was younger I was doodling and writing headcanon for the character. And it went like this, similar to Tremor's original origin story, he was a member of the Lin Kuei, givin the name Micro, for being able to shrink to microscopic size, and to also release pathogens into the enemy's body. So extreme, that the fever caused by the pathogen literally burned the opponent from the inside. What i'm saying is, i'd love for more unknown ninjas/cyborgs to appear and belong to their own clan.

video of him here *note How he plays in this game is not really how I envisioned him to be

    • Perhaps Hsu Hao can become a cyborg. I would imagine them finding his dead body, and permeat him with cybernetics, making him a full cyborg. He would still have the chest laser, though. I know it's probably not gonna happen, but it's just an idea on my part.

      I don't know. They don't have a fencer yet.

Mavado would be the teacher of the guy.

I wanna see a unique twist to the Shokan fighting style, guns are unlikely for a close combat using race like the Shokan, so I wanna see how they execute that, while also having a personality of an Earthrealm criminal.

    • Name: Shun

      Gender: Male

      Species: Human

Bio: It had long been Shun's dream to join the Shirai Ryu and train under Hanzo Hasashi. The dream was cut short by Shao Kahn's invasion. Before he and his family could escape the Tarkatan soldiers overrunning their village, one of those soldiers appeared before them. The Tarkatan took Shun's eye, and killed his mother, but then his father drew his sword and stopped the Tarkatan from bringing any further harm to his son. Shun took the opportunity to run away like he had never ran before. He found a safe place where he fashioned an eye patch from the fabric of his clothes, and waited out the remaining days. He came out into the first Netherrealm war only to watch the body of his father collapse out of a cloud of smoke with a throwing star in the shape of the Lin Kuei emblem in his skull. The then looked up to watch the smoke turn human. It was Smoke of the Lin Kuei, but as Quan Chi's revenant Enenra. Smoke mocked the death of Shun's father saying that "he was already a dead man, I, simply finished what the Tarkatan did not". Before Smoke was able to kill the boy, a Red Dragon soldier intervened and took Shun to the clan's safehaven. Once they got there, the ugly truth was revealed to the ten-year-old boy.

It was then Shun decided to make his commitment to become a loyal Red Dragon warrior. He grew up among them, learning to call them his new family. He learned to forge his own weapons and trained himself in the ways of Mortal Kombat. He often took inspiration from Daegon to continue despite having lost an eye. He utilizes an unusual, self-taught style of Ninjutsu good for his kama, shurikens and katana. By the time Shun had grown up, he was the most lethal assassin known to the Red Dragon clan. This ninja warrior fights for Earthrealm and the Red Dragon clan, but he will never forgive the Lin Kuei for destroying his childhood dreams, and taking his father's life, nor will he forget that it was Outworld forces that destroyed his village and killed his mother.

Appearance: A tall man with a similar body shape to Kenshi, but with short, dark, somewhat messy hair. A scar goes through his right eye, and a cloth eye patch covers it. He wears a conventional ninja garb, but not a mask, with the emblem of the Red Dragon clan on the back. He has a holster on his back for his katana, and two on his belt for his kama.

X-ray: Shun delivers a powerful roundhouse kick to his opponent's stomach, sending them stumbling back. He then appears behind and throws roped shurikens at his opponent's back, puncturing the spine. Then he jerks his opponent back, turns them to face him, and uppercuts their jaw, breaking it. Finally, he draws his katana, jumps up after them, and shoves it through his opponent's chest as he pulls them down to the ground.

Fatality 1: Shun jumps over the opponent, draws his kama, and as he lands behind, he uses them to cut off the opponent's arms. He then throws several shurikens into his opponent's back, skull, and vertebrae. Then he walks ahead until the opponent falls to their knees, then kicks his opponent in the chest so they fall back on top of the shurikens. He leaves his opponent there with the shurikens poking out of the front of his opponent. Shun wins! FATALITY!

Fatality 2: Shun slowly unsheathes his katana, then dashes past his opponent. He dashes back and forth with his katana out, slicing through his opponent several times. After one final dash, he uses his garbs to clean his blade of the blood before sheathing it back into its holster. After it is in its holster, his opponent falls into many sliced up pieces. Shun wins! FATALITY!

Personality: Shun is an honorable warrior, loyal to the Red Dragon clan, but he may be easily frustrated. If someone makes fun of how he "made up his own fighting style just to use all the ninja weapons" a fight can be sure to follow. He bears a heavy grudge against Outworld for leading the invasion that lost him his home and his mother, and against the Lin Kuei clan for the mass genocide on the Shirai Ryu and for killing his father.

Fun Fact: The Japanese kanji "Shun" translates to "speed," "quick," or "instant".

The Black Dragon has Kano using butterfly knives & has a cyborg eye & Kabal using hookswords & is forced to wear a respirator due to a fatal condition.

What sort of members can the Red Dragon have? Mavado & Hsu Hao are dead.

Special Moves are vital as well.

    • How about these spec moves for Altivo and Borte

Altivo flips back, whips the opponent across the cheek causing some neck damage via the impact as well, the then ensnares the legs, pulls the enemy foreward and they land on their back, causing spinal cord and skull damage

Borte lunges foreward and knees the enemy in the skull causes skull cracks, she lands behind the oppnent as they fall on their knees. Borte grabs the opponent's head, twists it both ends casuing neck damage, then kicks them in the head cracking the back, the opponent falls foreward and land on their face, casusing cracks to form at the front of the skull

      Altivo: You killed my mentor.

Cassie: You mean the Spanish pervert?

Altivo: Mavado was more then you know.

Cassie: The last time I saw Red Dragon members, I was brainwashed.

Altivo: When we have Onaga's army you'll wish you still were.

Cassie: You sure you're not brainwashed?

      Altivo vs Kano

      Altivo: Ah Kano.

      Kano: Mavado jr is here!

Altivo: I fight in his honor.

Kano: The only good thing about Red Dragons is that their fun to cheat!

Altivo: I take pleasure in killing those who cheat us.

Kano: Cheating is a way of life kid.

    • I'm starting to put together an idea for a new Red Dragon member, but I wanna know you guys' input.

So, what I'm thinking right now is someone who, after Shao Kahn's invasion, became a bit of a junker for the tech that Kano taught the Outworld soldiers how to use. Then (s)he scores big when (s)he finds the Lin Kuei temple and takes pieces of parts left over from the Cyber Initiative. But, (s)he doesn't get far, and runs into Triborg, taking Cyrax's form, who manages to cut off (a) limb(s). A Red Dragon saves him/her, of course, takes him/her and the stolen tech to their hideout, and surgically attaches the salvaged parts to replace the cut-off limbs and save his/her life.

That's what I've got so far for a cyber Red Dragon. Should I go for it? Scrap it? I don't know. What do you guys think?

    • Mavado used grappling hooks. Hsu Hao had a chest laser, sun-moon blades and a huge clap. They were alright. Minor.

But anyway.... I can picture new Red Dragons to be disciplined warriors unlike the Black Dragon.

A fencer would be useful. How do you picture that? A good rival for Kenshi in a sword fight.

And one who possessed some cybernetics from the Lin Kuei's cyber initiative, creating its own weapon for magnetism.

What about a gladiator-like warrior? Sword & Shield.

Actually, I have been thinking that for the magnetism power for the cyber Red Dragon, and I came up with the idea that maybe the cybernetic limbs can be detached and reattached with ease (like the forearm can be thrown at the opponent, and be magnetized back on), and that maybe any weapon modifications can snap on and off the limbs, like a blade attachment on the arm. How does that sound?

    • Name: Kwong Lin

      Gender: Female

      Species: Human

Bio: From a young age, Kwong Lin had always been fascinated by technology. She wanted to know more about it, how it works, and how to design technology of her own. After the events of Shao Kahn's invasion, however, she was left alone to try and survive. She notices that the Outworld soldiers left behind interesting pieces of technology, and eventually becomes a junker for this tech. Wherever she went, she carried around a large bag for any devices she had not seen before. As the days slowly turned into years, Kwong Lin's bag grew heavier, and yet had no plans for what she was going to do with it except study it. Then, one fatefull day she comes across the most advanced and most intriguing technology she had known: the remains of the Lin Kuei's Cyber Initiative. She salvaged cyborg limbs, weapons, and a pad with access to the Grandmaster's database, but didn't expect to be stopped, especially by the Cyber-Lin Kuei, Cyrax. She tried to get away, but the cyborg sawed off one of her arms and legs before she could. Unable to fight back, the cyborg revealed himself to be Triborg, the new founder of the Tekunin clan of former Lin Kuei cyborgs, and that his intentions were to force Kwong Lin into the cyberization process.

Triborg's plan was cut short by interference from a member of the Red Dragon clan. Triborg was disabled for long enough for the soldier to bring the girl to the clan's hideout. Confined to a bed for so long, Kwong Lin learned all there was to know about what had happened. By the time the first Netherrealm war began, she had come up with a way to get back on her feet. Daegon approved of her idea to "semi-cyberize" herself, and ensured this process's completion. Before she had gotten used to having these body parts, she began to tinker with the technology to make herself more combat-ready. She outfitted her cybernetic limbs with rocket propulsion, and electromagnetic joints, and designed a device to produce various combat attachments for her limbs which she wore like a travel pack. By the end of the Netherrealm war, Kwong Lin was back on her feet and fully combat-ready. She fights for the Red Dragon's cause, but secretly searches for any leads on the Tekunin clan to fight the battle with Triborg she did not before.

Appearance: A tall, somewhat muscular young woman, whose face looks like Li Mei's, with short, straight, black hair tied back in a bun. She wears a white sports bra for a top, and dark gray cargo pants with one pant leg torn off. Her right arm is her cybernetic arm, her left leg is her robotic leg, and both are in the style of a Lin Kuei cyborg, colored gray. The device on her back is also gray, and is strapped like one would do with a parachute.

X-ray: Kwong Lin "fires" her right arm at her opponent, grabs them by the neck, and uses the electromagnet in her shoulder joint to force the arm, and her opponent, towards her. Once the arm reattaches, she uses that same arm to deliver a powerful uppercut that fractures her opponent's jaw and launches them into the air. She jumps up, wraps her legs around her opponent's, grabs their arms, and slams their chest into the device on her back, cracking their ribs. Finally, she fires the jet in her left leg and sends her opponent crashing back down on the ground, snapping their spine.

Fatality 1: Kwong Lin jumps into the air and "fires" her left leg at her opponent, which goes through their chest and sticks in the ground. As she descends, she fires the jet in her right arm to swing her over the opponent and land on her robotic leg. She then "fires" her robotic arm through the back of her opponent's head. Once the arm reattaches, she pushes her opponent over, now with a hole in their head and chest, like the aftermath of D'Vorah's first fatality. Kwong Lin wins! FATALITY!

Fatality 2: Kwong Lin reaches her cyber arm to the device on her back, snaps on a blade attachment, and shoves the blade through her opponent's neck. She then pulls out an SMG attachment with her other hand before throwing the opponent's severed head into the air. She then leans back, sticks her blade attachment in the ground, lifts up her cyber leg, and snaps on the SMG attachment. After planting her other hand down, she unloads a full clip on the airborn head, piercing away all skin, before the skull lands next to the body. Kwong Lin wins! FATALITY!

Personality: Kwong Lin is a disciplined young woman, who doesn't run away from a fight and never easily admits defeat. She is very tech-savvy, and employs herself as a technician of the clan to develop weapons and devices that she believes would assist the other members in Kombat and for practical applications. Not many people greatly appreciate her work, but that doesn't seem to bother her. What does bother her, however, are the people who are quick to call her a ninja, and those who frequently try to distract her from her work.

Fun Fact: Kwong Lin is a somewhat popular Chinese girl name which literally means "Broad, beautiful jade" but it is meant to be a play on the current Sub-Zero's real name, Kuai Liang.

      Scorpion: Nobody liked Hsu Hao

      Borte: I did.

Scorpion: You harbor hatred for your father.

Borte: Don't speak of Hsu Hao like that!

Scorpion: A Red Dragon has no right to speak to a Shirai Ryu like that!

      Takeda

      Borte: Scorpion's protege

Takeda: There's more to the Sirai Ryu then you know

      Borte: I know enough

      Takeda: Let me help you

Borte: I am loyal to the Red Dragon

      Takeda: As a slave.

Any interactions for Shun and Kwong Lin?

    • Shun vs Scorpion

Shun: Is this what has become of the Shirai Ryu?

Scorpion: You dare mock me, child?!

Shun: I've grown up...and outgrown you.

Shun: It was my childhood dream to join your clan.

Hanzo Hasashi: A pity it was shattered.

Shun: We all grow up someday.

      Scorpion: Begone, ninja child.

      Shun: You're not yourself, Hasashi-sensei.

Scorpion: I am far greater than you expect.

Scorpion: A wise man learns from defeat.

Shun: I've learned plenty from my countless victories.

      Scorpion: To hell with you!

      Shun vs Bo Rai Cho

      Shun: Outworld worm.

Bo Rai Cho: I fight for Earthrealm, Shun.

      Shun: It makes no difference!

Shun: This must be a joke.

Bo Rai Cho: Your attitude does not sit well with me.

Shun: It is not supposed to.

Bo Rai Cho: Tarkatans took your eye...

Shun: You say that as if you were better than them

Bo Rai Cho: I do not fight for Outworld anymore.

Bo Rai Cho: You have much to learn, Shun.

Shun: I do not need your teachings.

Bo Rai Cho: Even when you know I trained champions?

      Shun vs Sub-Zero

Shun: You will die, Lin Kuei!

Sub-Zero: The one you seek is long dead

Shun: I do not care! Kakugo wa yoi ka! (Japanese for "Prepare yourself")

Shun: You will give me what I want.

Sub-Zero: And what is it that you want?

Shun: A fight to the death against Smoke!

      Sub-Zero: Your anger is misdirected.

Shun: As if I would listen to you.

Sub-Zero: Even if I am not the murderer you are after?

Sub-Zero: You are a Red Dragon?

Shun: This is your first encounter with the clan?

Sub-Zero: And I'm certain it will not be the last...

    • I like most of those interactions but some seem to be kind of off. Like the last Sub-Zero vs. Shun where Sub-Zero asks if Shun is a Red Dragon then Shun asks if Sub had encounter a Red Dragon but then Sub goes right into the next subject of "bring it on!"

    • We're coming up with some good ideas for characters but I think we should develop something for a character that does have powers - 'powers' like Johnny Cage's green halo.

        Loading editor
    • How could we even do a background regarding how characters got powers?

        Loading editor
    • Alright, I'm starting to put together something for a character with "powers". My idea is that this character was a world class criminal who always injected him(her)self with steroids to make short work of anyone in his/her way. (S)he most infamously stole a dragon scale from the Shaolin temple (because Liu Kang can transform into a dragon). (S)he accidentally and unknowingly mixed that scale in with a new steroid before trying to steal from the Black Dragon. When (s)he injected it, the genetic material from the scale merged with the muscle cells and then some, resulting in a painful transformation into a half-dragon human.

I know that's long, but it's what I've got for a character with unnatural powers. You like it? Could it use work? Should I scrap it? Please let me know.
