A Victory Pose is a brief, subtle animation performed by the victorious player's character at the end of the match. The animation is initiated only if a finisher has not been performed by the player's character.

Overview

In each game, with the exception of Mortal Kombat (2011 video game) and Mortal Kombat X, it was common for a victory pose to be shared with several characters, this was usually done with the palette swapped characters in the original trilogy. In later installments of the series victory poses were still shared between characters. This occurrence was due to the motion capture animations being applied to several characters.

Starting from Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance some victory poses would often break the fourth-wall. An example of this occurs from Cyrax's victory pose in MK 2011, which has Cyrax teleporting away from the arena, leaving one of his bombs and the camera zooms in on it when the bomb explodes, "cracking" the screen.
